THE DESIGN FILES
Rooted in the home’s 1960s architectural narrative, this interior renovation reinterprets mid-century materiality through a contemporary lens. The design explores a balance between warmth and restraint; a considered layering of texture, tone, and form.

Blackbutt wall cladding and stacked brickwork introduce natural tactility and spatial rhythm, forming the foundation for an earthy palette of terracotta, gum leaf green, and muted beige. Traditional soft white walls and ceilings bring clarity and contrast, while a muted peach terrazzo and nude mosaic detailing in the en suite create subtle moments of nostalgia and visual softness.

Guided by the clients’ appreciation for colour and calm, the design achieves a cohesive spatial narrative, one that celebrates honest materials, tonal harmony, and the enduring appeal of mid-century design reimagined for contemporary family living.
