PROJECT: BAUHAUS HOME

SCOPE: INTERIOR DESIGN
PHOTOGRAPHY: TONY EVANS

This Bauhaus-inspired timber home reveals its unexpected grandeur through a renovation that celebrates materiality, light, and thoughtful detailing. Set on a generous block, the architecture provided a canvas for playful exploration, where mid-century references meet contemporary interventions to create interiors that feel both dynamic and grounded.
Working with the home’s existing cedar and red brick, Genevieve Wallis Studio introduced rich walnut cabinetry and custom solid brass panel doors, injecting vibrancy and texture into a predominantly tonal palette. Upstairs, cedar-lined ceilings enhance warmth, while mosaic tiles and striking stone benchtops create moments of visual intrigue. Carefully selected lighting completes the composition, casting ambience and accentuating the home’s volumetric presence.
The result is an interior that balances refinement with surprise, crafting a living environment that honours the home’s architectural character while embracing playful, modern sophistication, a space of enduring elegance and understated drama.
